Khabib Nurmagomedov finds himself in exclusive company. Of the 634 fighters the Ultimate Fighting Championship lists on its roster, only 28 of them — 4.4 percent — are currently undefeated. Nurmagomedov, at a perfect 23-0, is at the front of the line. The Dagestani grappler entered the UFC in January 2012 and has since rattled off victories over Darrell Horcher, Rafael dos Anjos, Pat Healy, Abel Trujillo, Thiago Tavares, Gleison Tibau and Kamal Shalorus. In the process, Nurmagomedov has surfaced as the No. 1 contender for the UFC lightweight championship, and many view him as the uncrowned king at 155 pounds. Injuries have slowed his rise, as he missed almost two full years, but the two-time combat sambo world champion figures to make a run at the title sooner or later. Among other unbeaten UFC fighters, reigning women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk stands out in the crowd. The Polish muay Thai machine owns a 12-0 mark and pushes a staggering pace: In her six Octagon appearances, Jedrzejczyk has thrown 613 more total strikes than her opponents, according to FightMetric data. No other female fighter lands more strikes per minute than “Joanna Champion” (6.68), and her 4.25 strike differential ranks first on the UFC’s all-time list.
