Wright to DL, Hanley on bereavement list

BOSTON — As the Red Sox got ready to head on the road on Sunday afternoon, they were busy with roster logistics.
Knuckleballer Steven Wright has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 8. First baseman Hanley Ramirez will go on the bereavement list for the next three games, and he is expected to return on Thursday in Detroit.
Lefty Roenis Elias, who pitched the final two innings of Sunday’s 16-2 romp over the D-backs, was optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Due to the fact Pawtucket was involved in the late stages of a doubleheader as the Red Sox were getting ready to board their flight to Cleveland, the corresponding roster moves have not been made yet.
