Ultra bids to extend Andre Fabre’s tremendous record in the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville on Monday.

The Godolphin-owned colt looked another potential star in the making for the French maestro after winning each of his three starts as a juvenile, rounding off his campaign with victory in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc day at Longchamp.

He suffered a surprise defeat on his belated reappearance in the Prix Eugene Adam at Maisons-Laffitte last month and his conqueror that day, Christophe Ferland’s Heshem, is in opposition once more in this 10-furlong Group Two.

Fabre won this prize for a record 11th time when striking gold with New Bay 12 months ago.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Ultra has come on well since his last run. We still have one eye on the latter part of the season, so he is being brought along with that in mind rather than this race being his main objective.
