Allard among top prospect performers Saturday

Johan Mieses is on a tear through the California League. The Dodgers’ No. 23 prospect homered for a fourth consecutive game for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga against the Visalia Rawhide on Saturday.

Mieses has now gone deep 13 times over his last 19 games, batting .411 (30-for-73) with 33 RBIs. The 21-year-old outfielder has raised his batting average from .219 to .253 in that span.

With his first-inning, three-run shot, Mieses extended his hitting streak to eight games and pushed his team-leading home run total to 26.

• Brewers No. 6 prospect Phil Bickford reached double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season, fanning 10 batters for Class A Advanced Brevard County. The No. 61 overall prospect held the Dunedin Blue Jays to four hits and one run over five innings of work in his second start as part of the Milwaukee organization.

• No. 69 overall prospect Kolby Allard (Braves’ No. 4) celebrated his 19th birthday with a dominant pitching performance for Class A Rome. The left-hander tossed six shutout frames, limiting Hickory to four hits and two walks while fanning nine batters. Allard’s nine strikeouts were the second highest total of his professional career behind his personal-best 11, set on Aug. 3
