White Sox sink Marlins on strikeout wild pitch

MIAMI — A back-and-forth contest on Saturday night at Marlins Park was decided in an unconventional way. White Sox catcher Dioner Navarro dashed home when Melky Cabrera swung through strike three with two outs in the eighth inning, but the Kyle Barraclough pitch bounced short of home plate and deflected away from Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto.

Barraclough’s second wild pitch in the inning enabled the White Sox to rally back from a run down entering the eighth inning and claim an 8-7 win. The Marlins have now dropped three straight and four of five in the homestand, as they fell a half-game behind the Cardinals for the second National League Wild Card spot.
