Doolittle set to begin rehab stint on Monday

OAKLAND — An injury-riddled A’s pitching staff could regain one of its biggest assets on the team’s next homestand, with left-hander Sean Doolittle closing in on a return.
Doolittle could be back in Oakland’s bullpen as soon as Aug. 22, A’s manager Bob Melvin said Saturday after announcing plans for the reliever to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
