Side session to determine if Wright makes next start

BOSTON — The plan for Red Sox knuckleballer Steven Wright is a side session on Monday, which should determine if he can return to the rotation for his next start on Thursday in Detroit.
Wright missed his last turn due to right shoulder soreness from an ill-fated dive when he was pinch-running on Aug. 7 at Dodger Stadium.
“He threw again today out to 100 feet, then threw roughly 45 throws from flat ground, both his fastball and his knuckleball,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said. “This was a day that was better than yesterday. Everything points to him getting on the mound on Monday. He continues to go through treatment. While he’s not completely symptom free, they’ve certainly diminished. So he’s moving in the right …
