Hughes pleased with point

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was pleased with his side’s start to the season after Xherdan Shaqiri’s second-half free-kick sealed a 1-1 draw at newly-promoted Middlesbrough.
Stoke found themselves a goal behind in the 11th minute thanks to Alvaro Negredo’s header but they fought back through Shaqiri’s strike and Hughes was full of praise for the Switzerland international.
“Xherdan Shaqiri’s a good player,” Hughes told Sky Sports.
“He’s got good quality when he puts a delivery into the box and it was a great strike. It was important we scored at that point because we were really dominant and we deserved a goal for our efforts.
