NEW YORK — Ryan Schimpf got the Padres on the board in grand fashion during the first inning Friday at Citi Field, where he continued his remarkable power display.
With his first swing of the night, the slugging second baseman launched his first career grand slam over the right-center-field wall. Schimpf made Mets starter Logan Verrett pay for a two-seam fastball that leaked over the middle of the plate, belt-high.
