Halos claim Ege, option lefty to Triple-A

CLEVELAND — The Angels added another left-hander off waivers on Friday, claiming former Miami southpaw Cody Ege and optioning him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
“I think he’s got a good arm. I think he’s a project,” manager Mike Scioscia said. “He’s an experiment, but he’s got a good arm.”
Ege is the second left-hander this week that the team has claimed after former Phillies left-hander Brett Oberholtzer joined the club on Thursday. To make room, the Halos transferred Nick Tropeano to the 60-day disabled list.
Ege made five appearances for the Marlins this season, allowing four runs on eight hits in three innings before being optioned to Triple-A New Orleans in early May.
