Albers rejoins Twins as 26th man in twin bill

MINNEAPOLIS — Left-hander Andrew Albers, who made a memorable splash as a 27-year-old rookie with the Twins in 2013, officially joined the club Thursday as the club’s designated 26th player for the second game of the day-night doubleheader against the Astros.
Albers, 30, had an impressive start to his career, as he tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings in his debut before throwing a shutout in his second start. He made 10 starts with Minnesota that season, posting a 4.05 ERA. He spent the next year pitching for the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization in 2014 before making one relief appearance with the Blue Jays last year. But he was pitching well at Triple-A Rochester this season and the Twins decided to purchase his contract and call him up.
