Stubbs returns to Rangers; Rua to Round Rock

ARLINGTON — The Rangers have activated outfielder Drew Stubbs from the disabled list and optioned utility player Ryan Rua to Triple-A Round Rock.
Stubbs, an eight-year veteran, had been on the DL since May 23 because of a sprained joint in his left foot. Signed to a Minor League contract in Spring Training, he has played in just 10 games for the Rangers but is considered an asset off the bench because of his speed and superior defensive ability.
“In a winning situation, he can give us a weapon in a couple of different spots,” manager Jeff Banister said.
Rua played in 78 games in the outfield and at first base, hitting .266 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs, but he lost playing time with Shin-Soo Choo off the DL, Jurickson Profar playing semi-regularly and Delino DeShields back from Triple-A.
