Maybin heading to disabled list

SEATTLE — Another day, another Tigers player on the disabled list.
Manager Brad Ausmus said center fielder Cameron Maybin has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his left thumb and will hit the 15-day DL on Wednesday. The team will announce a corresponding move at that time and will likely call up a position player from Triple-A Toledo.
Maybin injured the thumb while diving for a ball in the outfield last Wednesday night at home against the White Sox. Maybin said his glove got stuck and he hyperextended the thumb, and a Tuesday MRI exam revealed the sprain.
