Cards promote top prospect Reyes, place Wacha on DL

ST. LOUIS — The wait for top prospect Alex Reyes is over, as the Cardinals announced on Tuesday that they will purchase his contract while placing starter Michael Wacha on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Catcher Brayan Pena has been transferred to the 60-day DL to clear space on the 40-man roster.
Reyes is ranked by MLBPipeline.com as the ninth-best prospect in the game.
Reyes, 21, has been pitching for Triple-A Memphis since serving a suspension for a positive drug test at the start of the season. He has a 4.96 ERA in 14 starts and most recently pitched …
