News from Tuesday’s card at Thirsk where Delectation made an impressive start to her career for Bryan Smart.
Local trainer Bryan Smart is excited to see what the future holds for Delectation following an impressive start to her career at Thirsk.
The daughter of Delegator was close to the speed throughout the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Maiden Fillies’ Stakes in the hands of Paul Mulrennan and showed a smart change of gear inside the last of six furlongs to pass the post two lengths clear of Windsor runner-up and odds-on favourite Tschierschen.
Nottingham third Vaulted was placed once more to give the form further credence and while Delectation was a relatively unconsidered 28/1 shot, the performance came as no surprise to connections.
Smart said: “She was very impressive and we’ve always liked her.
“I thought the price was an insult, to be honest, so we had a bit on each-way and I’m delighted.
“She was going to run about three weeks ago but then she banged a leg. Paul (Mulrennan) came to ride her a month ago and he really liked her.
