After a reported dispute with the club’s board over transfers, Steve Bruce’s decision to leave Hull just three weeks before the start of the Premier League season has halted the club’s pursuit of fresh signings. As a result, all eyes will be on the dug-out at the KCOM Stadium, where former Manchester United assistant Phelan is expected to take charge in what could be his audition to succeed Bruce on permanent basis.

Ahmed Musa (Leicester City)

Leicester were given an early glimpse of the potential summer signing Musa has when he scored twice against Barcelona in the International Champions Cup.

Having gone on to impress in the second half of Sunday’s defeat in the Community Shield at Wembley, the former CSKA Moscow forward will be keen to kick the Foxes’ title defence off with another eye-catching display on Humberside.
