Cordina muscled out in Rio

Joe Cordina is the latest British boxer to fall before the Olympic quarter-final stage as he was outpointed by fifth seed Hurshid Tojibaev.
Cordina arrived in Rio boasting a European Championship lightweight gold medal and ranked eighth in the world but was unable to match the physicality of Tojibaev, who went through 28-28 29-27 29-27 despite a point deduction.
Cordina began on the back foot and looked keen to exhibit his superior movement, keeping his hands low. Tojibaev was in no mood to allow him the chance to show off, though, and duly uncorked a solid opening left …
