A’s Gray won’t need surgery on forearm

OAKLAND — An MRI of A’s right-hander Sonny Gray’s right forearm showed no structural damage, manager Bob Melvin said following Oakland’s 3-2 win over Baltimore on Monday night.
Melvin did not set a timetable for Gray’s return. The righty exited his start Saturday against the Cubs and was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. Melvin said test results showed “a muscle strain with some inflammation and some fluid at the top of the right forearm.”
