Russia and Chile wrap up men’s day four with pool E match up

Rio de Janeiro, August 9, 2016 – Russia’s Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Konstantin Semenov and Chile’s Esteban Grimalt/Marco Grimalt wrap up the men’s competition with a pool E match up on day four.  The Russian’s won their opening match while the Chileans are looking for their first win in the pool.

Head to Head

Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Konstantin Semenov have won two out of three meetings against Esteban Grimalt/Marco Grimalt on the FIVB World Tour, with all three requiring three sets.  The Russians won the first and third matches in pool play at the Rio de Janeiro Grand Slam in March and the Fuzhou Open in April with a win by the Mexicans sandwiched between in the round of 24 at the Vitória Open in March.

Historically the #20 seed has upset the #8 seed in two of the three meetings in the Olympic Games.  The higher seed won the last match, in three sets, in London (2012) while the lower seed won in Beijing (2008) and Athens (2004), both in straight sets.
