Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have been omitted from Real Madrid’s squad for their UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla on Tuesday night.
After starring for Wales on their run to the semi-finals of this summer’s European Championships, Bale has been given an extended break and only recently returned to training.
Bale is among a number of high-profile absentees for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Germany midfielder Toni Kroos will also miss the match, which takes place in Trondheim, Norway, while Ronaldo, who suffered a leg injury in the Euro 2016 final, is also sidelined.
