Darvish dazzles with 7 scoreless innings

HOUSTON — Rangers starter Yu Darvish did not get the win on Sunday afternoon despite pitching seven scoreless innings, but that did not temper the euphoria over his performance after the Rangers’ 5-3, 11-inning victory over the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
“His best start of the year,” manager Jeff Banister said. “He had all his pitches engaged and threw strikes.”
It was only Darvish’s eighth start of the season because of time missed while he recovered from Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery and another five weeks because of discomfort in his right shoulder.
Darvish still compared his work to 2013, when he finished second in the American League Cy Young Award voting.
“I feel like I’m pitching better than 2013,” he said.
