Segedin makes Dodgers history in debut

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Rob Segedin from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, a move aimed at reinforcing an offense that has struggled against left-handed pitching. He made that decision look brilliant in his Major League debut.

Facing Red Sox lefty David Price, Segedin lined a two-run double to center in the fourth inning and singled home two more in the fifth as the Dodgers built a 6-2 lead. The four RBIs set a Dodgers record for an MLB debut.

Segedin, who got the start in left field, saw his day end in the top of the sixth when he was removed as part of a double-switch. Batting eighth, Segedin went 2-for-3.
