Dodgers bring up Segedin for MLB debut

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Rob Segedin from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, a move aimed at reinforcing an offense that has struggled against left-handed pitching.
Segedin was in the starting lineup Sunday, making his Major League debut, batting eighth and playing left field against Red Sox southpaw David Price. The 27-year-old has received starts at left field and every spot in the infield with OKC this season, but the vast majority of his playing time has come at first and third base.
“I’ve played a handful of games [at left field] this year, especially over the last two weeks,” Segedin said. “I’ve gotten comfortable out there in the short time I’ve been out there.”
