Ichiro triples to reach 3,000-hit milestone
- Updated: August 7, 2016
DENVER — Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki became the 30th player in Major League history to collect his 3,000th hit, tripling off Rockies left-handed reliever Chris Rusin in the seventh inning of Sunday’s series finale at Coors Field.
While Ichiro isn’t known for his power, his towering fly ball caromed off the right-field wall and out of the reach of Gerardo Parra for the 93rd triple of his illustrious career.

In his professional career, Ichiro has 4,278 hits — 1,278 in Japan and 3,000 in Major League Baseball. Pete Rose, MLB’s Hit King, finished his career with 4,256 hits in the Majors.
