SNOWBIRD RESORT, Utah (VN) — Over the last two seasons, Andrew Talansky has weathered a pair of forgettable racing campaigns, marred by crashes, sickness, and bad form.
On the slopes of Little Cottonwood Canyon, the two years of disappointment melted away to memories. Talansky won the queen stage of the Tour of Utah at Snowbird resort Saturday, and in doing so took a commanding lead of the general classification.
The victory is Talansky’s first road race win since 2014, when he won the overall at the Criterium du Dauphine (he won the 2015 time trial national championship).
“It’s definitely be a while — it’s been two years since I feel like I rode my best,” Talansky said after the stage. “It’s been a tough couple of years.”
