Pirates deal Caminero to Mariners

PITTSBURGH — The Pirates traded hard-throwing reliever Arquimedes Caminero to the Mariners on Saturday, setting in motion a series of pitching moves.
Pittsburgh sent Caminero, who came into his own as a flame-throwing middle reliever over the past two seasons, to Seattle in exchange for a player to be named and a conditional player to be named. The Pirates will call up another player in a corresponding move before Saturday’s game against the Reds at PNC Park.
The 29-year-old right-hander went 6-3 with a 3.58 ERA, 105 strikeouts and a 1.38 WHIP in 112 appearances with the Pirates. His time in Pittsburgh was marked by extreme highs and lows, none more obvious than this season.
Caminero began the year by putting together a 5.19 ERA with nearly as many walks (13) as strikeouts (14) along with three homers …
