Garba: We want to win everything

Nigeria trainer Manu Garba is undoubtedly one of the most experienced as far as youth football is concerned on the continent after leading the Golden Eaglets to the first runner up position at the 2013 CAF U-17 AFCON in Morocco on their way to a fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup title same year in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach when the Eaglets did a double, winning the U-17 AFCON in Togo and the FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea in 2007; and has enthused about going all the way yet again as his new youngsters begin a quest for a ticket towards next year’s continental championships in Madagascar. Drawn a bye into the second round, the Golden Eaglets will on Saturday host the Junior Menas of Niger in what is regarded as a contest between two familiar foes and it would be a straight fourth contest in four years between the two countries. At the last U-17 AFCON Championship hosted by Niger last year, the Golden Eaglets came fourth but not without defeating the Junior Menas 2-0 inside their Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey and two years earlier, the Nigeriens equally suffered a 4-1 defeat at home and 6-0 deficit away in Calabar in Southern Nigeria.
