Cubs activate Soler off DL, DFA Nathan

OAKLAND — Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler is happy to be back in the lineup after spending two months rehabbing a left hamstring strain.
Soler, who has been with the Double-A Tennessee Smokies the past two weeks, started as the designated hitter in Friday night’s series opener against the Oakland Athletics.
“It took a little longer, but I am feeling good at the plate,” Soler said through an interpreter. “I’m ready to play hard and do well and hope this never happens again.”
