Yellow Tiger Dirickx announces retirement

Brussels, Belgium, August 5, 2016 – Despite receiving offers from clubs across Europe to join their ranks next season, Frauke Dirickx has announced her retirement at the age of 36 to focus on what she calls ‘a normal life’.Dirickx was a star player for Belgium’s ‘Yellow Tigers’ for over 15 years, totalling in excess of 250 caps with the national team. And one of the major highlights in Dirickx’s career came in 2013 when she won a historic bronze medal at the CEV Volleyball European Championship in Berlin.One of Europe’s best setters, Dirickx was left disappointed in January when Belgium failed to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
