Jamie Vardy made a mockery of his modest valuation last season to rack up more points than any other forward thanks to 24 goals and eight assists, but the Leicester ace has had his priced hiked up to £12m for 2016/17, making him the game’s seventh most expensive striker.

Here’s a look at five forwards who look capable of defying their modest Sky Sports Fantasy Football price tags in the forthcoming Premier League season…

Odion Ighalo (£10.4)

Watford’s Nigerian striker was one of just five players to reach the 200-point mark last season as he scored 16 times and provided another six assists. However, 38 Premier League players are more expensive than him in the revised Sky Sports Fantasy Football pricings, with reduced valuation being due to a meagre total of two goals in the second half of last term. If he can regain the form that saw him end 2015 as the highest scorer in England’s top four divisions, then he’ll prove a great bargain buy.
