- Updated: August 5, 2016
DENVER — Yasmani Grandal tripled home two runs and Kenta Maeda pitched 5 2/3 innings as the Dodgers avoided a series sweep by beating the Rockies on Thursday night, 4-2, to keep pace with division leader San Francisco.
Maeda, 10-7 with the victory, became the 13th Dodgers rookie pitcher with double-digits in wins. He also snapped a streak of three consecutive starts by Dodgers pitchers of four innings or less and is 2-0 at Coors Field this year.
Corey Seager hit his 19th home run off Colorado losing starter Tyler Chatwood to tie the game at 2 and tie Hanley Ramirez’s single-season home run record for a Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop. Chatwood is 4-7 with a 5.72 ERA in 11 starts at home, 6-0 and 1.30 in nine starts on the road. David Dahl’s two-run homer in the fourth inning accounted for the Rockies’ runs.
