A’s proceeding with caution with Lowrie’s foot

ANAHEIM — Oakland’s Jed Lowrie was out of Thursday’s lineup against the Angels.
“It was a planned day off,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said.
The plan going forward with Lowrie’s tender left foot? That part of the equation isn’t as clear for the second baseman.
Melvin said Lowrie continues to feel pain when running. It’s so prevalent that Melvin is forced to pinch-run for Lowrie late in close games.
