Maybin day to day with left thumb sprain

DETROIT — Cameron Maybin might have been held out of Thursday’s lineup as a day off, regardless of his health, after playing all nine innings on Wednesday night. A left thumb sprain, however, put a little more gravity on the decision.
Maybin, who appeared to sustain the injury diving at Todd Frazier’s second-inning double, stayed in the game before undergoing tests afterwards.
