Ghana battles neighbours Burkina Faso

After missing out on the last edition, Ghana would begin their quest to make an appearance at the 12th edition of the tournament to be staged in Madagascar next April. The two-time winners (1995 & 1999) have the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso standing in their tracks, and come Sunday at the newly built Cape Coast Sports Stadium, they will lock horns in the first leg of the second round. Surprisingly both sides are yet to taste action in the qualifiers. The Starlets had a walkover in the first round following the withdrawal of scheduled opponents Liberia, while the Burkinabe’s on the other hand, drew a bye. Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and his charges pitched camp in Cape Coast at the beginning of the week to put finishing touches to his side ahead of the game.
