Celtic youngsters impress Rodgers

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers praised his young players after the dramatic Champions League third qualifying round win over Astana.
Stoppage-time penalties in either half from Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele secured a 2-1 victory following last week’s 1-1 draw in Kazakhstan.
On a nervy night at Celtic Park, following substitute Agim Ibraimi’s equaliser for Astana, the Hoops showed their mettle with 20-year-old pair Saidy Janko and Eoghan O’Connell, and teenager Kieran Tierney all producing solid performances.
On-loan 19-year-old winger Patrick Roberts also started before suffering a hamstring injury, while 20-year-old striker Dembele displayed superb composure to sink his first goal for the club after just competitive appearances.
And Rodgers, who is expected to add to his squad before Monday’s UEFA signing deadline, was delighted by the contribution of his young stars.
