Richard Sherman: Seahawks spend hours at camp talking about race, social issues

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said Tuesday that he and his teammates have spent hours during training camp talking about social issues such as race.
“I’m sure if people filmed our discussions and really, really saw how deep we dive into it, then they’d understand how seriously we are taking these issues,” Sherman said.
He then went into an uninterrupted monologue about what the players discuss and what his views are.
“It is unfortunate the time we are living in,” Sherman said. “It is unfortunate that kids have to deal with discrimination and things like that, that kids have to deal with underfunded schools just because their skin is a certain pigment. I think that’s unfortunate.
