Donaldson rests hamstring; Tulo improving

HOUSTON — Josh Donaldson was held out of the Blue Jays’ lineup on Monday night because of a sore left hamstring.
Donaldson got the start at designated hitter on Sunday for the same reason, but Toronto opted for rest the following day instead of risking a potential setback. He appeared to sustain the injury while running out a ground ball in Saturday’s victory over the Orioles.
The hamstring injury is not considered serious, and Donaldson is expected to make his return to the lineup either Tuesday or Wednesday. Donaldson has appeared in all but two of Toronto’s 105 games this season.
“His hammy is barking today,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “We’ll give him the day off and hopefully that clears it. After talking to him, I decided, you know what, can’t risk it turning into anything long term. That would be a disaster.”
