Rays land pair of Minor Leaguers for Guyer

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays have traded outfielder Brandon Guyer to the Indians for a pair of Minor Leaguers, outfielder Nathan Lukes and right-hander Jhonleider Salinas.
Though the trade came out of nowhere in regard to any rumors that had been circulating, it made sense given the Rays’ crowded outfield situation combined with the fact that outfielder Desmond Jennings should be returning from the disabled list shortly.
Guyer, 30, is a career .255/.341/.396 hitter over parts of five seasons, all with the Rays. This season, he has been hit by pitch a Major-League-Leading 23 times over 63 games, 55 starts.
