Reds, Mets ‘on verge’ of trade for Bruce

The Mets and Reds are on the verge of completing a trade involving outfielder Jay Bruce, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. Neither team has commented on or confirmed an agreement.
Multiple reports pegged Cincinnati’s return haul as outfielder Brandon Nimmo and two other prospects.
The non-waiver Trade Deadline is 4 p.m. ET today.
Bruce, 29, has spent all nine of his Major League seasons with the Reds and is a three-time National League All-Star. That included this season as he is batting .265/.316/.559 with 25 home runs and 80 RBIs — numbers that have him on pace to set career highs.
