Wallace hails Rangers signings

Lee Wallace has hailed the impact of new signings Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar as Rangers prepare to get the Scottish Premiership season underway on Saturday.

Mark Warburton’s side take on Hamilton at Ibrox, live on Sky Sports 1 HD, in their first fixture back in the top flight following a four-year absence.

Rangers have added new players to the squad which secured the Scottish Championship title last season and while skipper Wallace has welcomed all the new additions, he says the impact of Barton and Kranjcar has been vital.

“They have added an enormous amount, both on and off the pitch,” Wallace told Sky Sports News HQ.

“There is undoubted quality on the football pitch – there is no getting away from that – but I think more on how they are interacting off the pitch, how they are dealing with the guys, getting used to how we work and the contributions and analysis they are making on the training pitch are second to none.

“I think that both, on and off the pitch, are certainly going to help our players, help us improve, help get us to where we want to be, so two fantastic additions along with the rest of the guys who have come into our squad and we are in really good shape right now.”

Barton wasted no time in making his presence known in his new surroundings, starting off by saying Celtic captain Scott Brown was ‘not in the same league’ as the former Burnley midfielder.
