Davis lands on 15-day DL with flexor strain

ARLINGTON — The Royals appeared to receive some good news regarding closer Wade Davis: An MRI performed in Kansas City on Sunday revealed Davis has a low-grade (Grade 1) strain of his right flexor muscle.
“The MRI showed his elbow was clean,” manager Ned Yost said before the series finale against the Rangers.
Davis was placed on the 15-day disabled list, though, retroactive to Wednesday. He is eligible to return on Aug. 12. The Royals recalled left-hander Matt Strahm from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to take Davis’s spot on the roster.
