Flexor strain puts Davis on 15-day DL

ARLINGTON — The Royals, ravaged by injuries this season, placed All-Star closer Wade Davis on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with a flexor strain.
Davis’ DL stint is retroactive to Thursday, making him eligible for reinstatement on Aug. 12. The club recalled left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to take Davis’ place on the roster.
Davis was spotted on a plane from Dallas back to Kansas City by a fan who tweeted out a selfie with Davis prior to Saturday’s Royals-Rangers game.
The Royals later confirmed that Davis was headed back to Kansas City for an MRI on his right arm. His flight wound up being delayed by a mechanical issue and he arrived late to Kansas City. The MRI, which took place on Sunday morning, revealed the flexor strain.
