Showtime Boxing preview: Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton
- Updated: July 29, 2016
Saturday night, Showtime features a fantastic fight in the Featherweight division as WBA Featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (32-0-1; 18 KO) defends his title against the unbeaten Carl Frampton (22-0; 14 KO). The fight is a 12 round Featherweight (126 lb.) fight. Ring Magazine has Santa Cruz ranked at #2 in the division, with Frampton, who is moving up in weight here, ranked #2 at 122 pounds. Showtime Championship Boxing Santa Cruz vs. Frampton airs this Saturday, July 30 on Showtime with a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET.
The common knock on boxing is that it is mostly lopsided mismatches. But this fight is another great one, carrying on the streak of terrifically booked fights that has brought us Thurman vs. Porter and Crawford vs. Postol (and Kovalev vs. Ward later this year). These are two of the very best in the lower weight classes. Both are undefeated, and both have truly earned that undefeated status with some big scalps on their resumes. This is a must-watch for boxing fans.
