Jaeger shoots 58, first in PGA-sanctioned event

HAYWARD, Calif. — Stephan Jaeger shot a 12-under 58 on Thursday in the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic, the first 58 in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event.
Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa shot the only other 58 in major tour play with a 12-under to win the 2010 Crowns on the Japan Tour.
The 27-year-old Jaeger, of Germany, finished with a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-5 ninth at TPC Stonebrae.
“It went in a little fast for my liking,” Jaeger said about his final putt. “On a day like that, it’ll go in.”
