Denard Robinson Comments on Car Accident Incident, Interaction with Police

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson was the driver in a one-car accident July 3, when his car was found in a retention pond in Jacksonville, Florida. He offered his first comments to the media on the incident Thursday, per Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com.
“If that was the case, I would have had a DUI,” the former Michigan Wolverines star said, stressing he was not under the influence and instead fell asleep at a stoplight in the early morning.
The police report noted Robinson’s car was on the wrong side of the road and slowly made its way into the pond after 4 a.m. ET. Robinson and his passenger—who he said was his cousin—were unhurt, but DiRocco noted police had to tell the sleeping running back his car was in the pond multiple times in an effort to convince him to move.
