Davis homers twice as A’s rally in Texas

ARLINGTON — Khris Davis and Coco Crisp each belted two-run homers off Rangers reliever Matt Bush in the eighth inning to send the A’s to a 6-4 win in the rubber match of a three-game set on Wednesday night at Globe Life Park.

The A’s, who totaled three homers for the second straight night, have won all four of their series since the All-Star break, while the American League West-leading Rangers have won just one.

The Rangers entered the eighth with a 3-2 lead, thanks to a two-run homer from Ian Desmond in the fifth. But with one out, Crisp lined a 99-mph fastball from Bush into the right-field seats to give the A’s a 4-3 lead. Davis followed three batters later with his second homer of the night.

Davis’ first home run was a solo shot in the first inning against Yu Darvish. The Rangers’ starter gave up two runs in the first but allowed just two hits while striking out six for the rest of his six innings.

A’s starter Sean Manaea looked to be on the hook for a loss after allowing the home run to Desmond in an otherwise solid performance.
