Bryant at DH day after hard slide into second

CHICAGO — Kris Bryant was the Cubs’ designated hitter on Tuesday, although he wasn’t exactly sure what to do.
“We don’t DH a lot, so we don’t have anybody to ask about it,” Bryant said. “We’ll see. Maybe I’ll be good at it.”
The move gave Bryant a chance to get off his feet a little. He also had a slight headache from a collision at second base in the ninth inning Monday night after trying to stretch his hit from a single to a double.
“It’s always my instincts to slide head first on something like that, but I need to slide feet first,” Bryant said. “I just feel like when I’m runing top speed, I’m quicker getting to the bag sliding head first. The throw took the second baseman back toward me, which didn’t help me out much.”
Bryant isn’t sure what he hit in the collision at second. He didn’t feel woozy, but he did take his time walking off the field to make sure everything was OK.
