Parra set to begin rehab Friday in Hartford

BALTIMORE — Rockies outfielder Gerardo Parra, who has been on the disabled list since June 17 with a sprained left ankle, is set to make his first rehab appearance Friday. Parra, who is currently with the team in Baltimore, will play for Double-A Hartford.
Because he hasn’t played in a game in more than a month, manager Walt Weiss expects Parra to need some extra rehab time. The skipper doesn’t have a set number of games in mind, though.
“We got to play that one by ear,” Weiss said. “He’s been out a long time, so we’ll see how it goes. But he’s going to have to get some at-bats.”
When Parra does return, he will join a cluttered outfield, barring any other injuries. …
