Chargers need Joey Bosa in camp sooner rather than later

SAN DIEGO — While the San Diego Chargers and Joey Bosa’s representation spar over the structure of his rookie deal so the Ohio State product can report to camp on time, let’s take a moment to examine his impact on the field.
Selected No. 3 overall by the Chargers in this year’s draft, Bosa was the first defensive player off the board — which has not necessarily been a good thing for NFL teams the past five years.
That list of the top defensive players selected in the past five drafts besides Bosa includes Dante Fowler Jr., Jadeveon Clowney, Dion Jordan and Morris Claiborne — all players who have failed to make a major impact on the field for their respective teams.
