Prospect Q&A: JT Compher

The Colorado Avalanche acquired left wing JT Compher from the Buffalo Sabres on June 26, 2015. The 6-foot, 182-pound Illinois native captained the University of Michigan Wolverines during the 2015-16 season, helping his club make it all the way to the NCAA Regional Final before his junior campaign concluded. Compher had a career year, collecting 63 points (16 goals, 47 assists) in 38 games, which also put him second in scoring in the Big Ten and first in assists (47), assists per game (1.24), power-play assists (19) and points (24), and plus/minus rating (+35).
Compher also represented the United States at the 2016 IIHF World Championship, where he registered three points (one goal, two assists) in 10 games at the tournament.
